One of our main businesses is consulting and assisting in
obtaining Russian job permits. We started this since the
very moment of their introducing in practice in 1996.
Every foreigner working in Russia must know that he can be
checked for possessing Job Permit, especially in cases if he/she:
-
signs documents submitted to government bodies (i.e.
applications, letters, balance sheets);
-
personally applies to government bodies as a firm
official representative of a firm legally registered in
Russia;
-
was caught in working process, in flagranti.
In case he has no such a Job Permit the firm he works for
can be fined by $3,500 (more precisely – 1000 minimal
salaries) for every working foreigner without due job permit.
Special body of the Ministry of Internal Affaires (i.e.
police) named Migration Affaires Department (Russian
abbreviation is UDM) is authorized to issue Job Permits. The
new routine introduced in January 2003 and considerably
revised in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 is the same for all
firms no matter whether there is foreign investment in their
initial capital or positions for the foreign workers.
New edition of Federal Law “On legal status of foreigners in
Russian Federation” dramatically changes situation with job
permits for citizens of CIS countries with non-visa access
to Russia (i.e. except Georgia and Turkmenistan).
All citizens of Byelorussia can work in Russia having same
rights as Russian citizens, they need only police
registration.
